Rue de Theux refers to a street in Brussels where I found an old mattress. Using a silicone mold I made copies of the mattress in cement. This installation reflects on the people who have lost their homes.

In the front hall, Isaac has created a new work for the gallery that transforms the effect that austerity measures are having on families and communities across the EU into a waking discussion. For each 1% rise in the unemployment rate, there is a 0.8% rise in suicides; homelessness is rising quickly across the continent yet there are no published European statistics to date (www.feantsa.org).
